Despacito, a song by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi together with Daddy Yankee was released in 2017. It went on to become the most one streamed music at that moment within just six months. The song is a blend of reggaeton, pop and rock not only brought renewed attention to reggaeton but it also drew interest to Latin music more generally. Billboard's Top 100 in 2015 had two tracks that were mostly in the Spanish and in 2016 there were four. In the midst of Despacito's fame in 2017 there were 19 mainly Spanish tracks which made it into the Top 100. And in 2020 there were 41. Justin Bieber remixed Despacito 2017 in a bilingual version. In the following months, several artists collaborated with Reggaeton stars including Drake and Bad Bunny with MIA (2018), Madonna and Maluma with Medellin 2019. Some reggaeton artists have criticized the shift to mainstream music in the year 2020. But a newly formed group called Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the development and growth of reggaeton. He often used electronic dance, as well as other types.
